Bill aims to postpone Brazilian Data Protection Law to August 2022
Yesterday, October 30, 2019, Congressman of the House of Representatives, Mr. Carlos Gomes Bezerra, presented Bill No. 5,762/2019 aiming to postpone the date of entry into force of the Brazilian Data Protection Law (Law No. 13.709/2018) to August 15, 2022.
The Congressman justified his proposition by saying that only a small portion of Brazilian companies started implementing changes to comply with the law. He also claimed that postponing the Law is necessary due to the “slowness of the Government in the establishment of the National Data Protection Authority – ANPD”.
The Brazilian Data Protection Law, as it is, provides that it will enter into effect on August 15, 2020.
